- 宿根木歷經了佐渡金山繁榮期的 17 世紀，從江戶後期到明治初期，北前船行業(商船)在此發展。Sunegi was prosperous in the 17th century because of the Sado Kinzan. The Kitamae ship industry (merchant ships) developed here from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period.

The outer walls of the houses are made of vertically grained timber called tsutsumi-ita (literally: wrapping plank), so that it can protect against sea breezes blowing off the Sea of Japan. In contrast with the simple appearance of the outside, the interiors have elaborate designs with much lacquer coating.

- 宿根木小学校の木造校舎是島上僅存的少數木製教學建築之一，後來改建為博物館保存至今，館內主要展示大量民俗資料，其中”南佐渡漁具 1,293 件”、”造船工具和船 968 件”，被指定為国重要有形民俗文化財。The wooden school building of Shukunegi Elementary School, built in 1920, is one of a few wooden school and later remains as a museum. The museum mainly exhibits a large number of folklore materials, among which “1,293 items of fishing tools from Minami Sado” and “968 items of shipwright tools and boats” are designated National Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties.

- 江戸時代後期到明治時代船主邸宅，後來賣給了清九郎家，該建築擁有當時最高水平的建築材料和技術。The mansion of a ship owner from the late Edo to the Meiji period was sold to the Seikuro family. The building boasted the highest level of construction materials and technology at that time.

旧宿根木郵便局 Former Shukunegi Post Office
- 石塚権兵衛家族經營航運業務，並經營藥房和郵政業務。這座西式郵局大樓是為紀念1918年電信和電話的興建而建造的。The building of the former Shukunegi Post Office belongs to Gonbee Ishizuka, who quit his job as a shipping agent to start a pharmacy and postal service. This Western-style office building was built to commemorate the start of the telegraph and telephone service in 1921.

- The residence features stepping stones made from Shakudani-ishi (volcanic tuff), brought by a sengokubune [merchant ship] from around Mikuni Port of Echizen (present-day Fukui Prefecture), and a spacious garden.

Like most private houses in Shukunegi, it is a two-story structure with wooden walls. You can see the ingenuity of shipwrights everywhere, such as the mechanism of the window that can be opened and closed by pulling a rope.

伊三郎 (いさぶろう) Isaburo’s Residence
- 保留了2樓北側突出的segai結構，爬升梁結構以及帶有“石頭”一詞的屋簷裝飾等特色設計。 The residence features unique designs, including a protruding second floor on the north side (segaizukuri style), noboribari-style (transverse beams set at a pitch), and an eave decoration bearing a Chinese character “石 “(stone).
山下(やました) Yamashita’s Residence
- 宿根木では数少ない中門造りの建物。Yamashita’s Residence is one of the few Chumon-zukuri style buildings, which has a wing projecting at a right angle from the main house.
三角家 Sankakuya (Triangle House)
- 一座三角形的房子，以適應狹窄小巷的形狀，因建築的形狀也被稱為船形屋。象徵宿根木的建築物之一，在這您可以看到最大限度利用土地的造船者的智慧和技能。A house built in a triangular shape to fit the shape of a narrow alley. It is also called a boat-shaped house because of the shape of the building. One of the buildings symbolizing Shukunegi, where you can see the wisdom and skill of shipwrights who maximized the use of land.

- 一種用於各種活動的劇場式會議設施，具有昭和復古氣息的建築物。Shukunegi Community Hall is a theatre-style community center in use for various activities. The construction evokes the nostalgic and retro ambience of the Showa times.

称光寺 Shokoji Temple
- On the Sanmon main gate, which survived the fire, there still remains a munefuda [an inscription related to the building], written in 1713. This gate is one of the oldest pieces of architecture at the temple. 倖免於大火的山門是這座建築中最古老的，剩下的山脊標記為1713。
