It stands three stories tall, with an outer wall of stone at its base, and ivory white stucco above, a beautiful harmony that is characteristic of this castle. 彥根城在1951 年被指定為史跡、1956 年被指定為特別史跡等文化財 In 1951, the castle was designated a historic site, and in 1956 a special historic site and cultural property.
- 1. 天守閣 The Main Keep
- 築城於約 400 年前，現在是日本古城中仍保留原有天守閣的 12 座城之一，也是日本 5 座國寶天守閣之一。 天守閣擁有曲線優美的屋頂與飾以鍍金的豪華外觀，但內部房間極為簡約 Constructed nearly 400 years ago, today, Hikone is one of only twelve Japanese castles that still retain its original keep, and one of only five Japanese castle keeps designated as National Treasures. Despite the main tower’s graceful curved roofs, gilt, and elegant outward appearance, the inside was not so similarly furnished.
- 2. 樑 Ceiling Beams
- 天守閣天井樑的特徵之一，是縱樑數目為橫樑的兩倍左右。自然彎曲的松木形狀，相當吸睛 One of the features of the castle is that is uses nearly twice the number of longitudinal beams as there are transverse beams. They make quite a sight with their naturally curving pine wood.

- 每到春天，以彥根城為中心約有 1,100 株櫻花綻放，讓彥根城迎向 1 年中最美的季節。例年大約在 4 月 8 日左右滿開 When spring comes to Hikone, nearly 1,100 cherry trees burst into bloom around Hikone Castle, making this the time of year at which it is at its most beautiful. The blossoms will come into full bloom around April 8th, and the nighttime light-up of the cherry blossoms in early April is always a popular event.
