- 大洲城是在肱川河畔的小山丘上被開建的平山城，其後流淌的肱川成為天然的護城河，南面建有二之丸、三之丸，形成內護城河和外護城河環繞的梯郭式城郭；同時也有地藏獄城、龜城的別名 Ozu Castle is a Hirayama-style castle built on a hill next to the Hijikawa River. It utilizes the river, which flows behind it, as a natural moat and accompanies two bailey walls called Ninomaru and Sannomaru on the south side. This is a Teikaku-style castle formation, in which the keep of the castle is surrounded by two baileys and protected by two layers of moats (Inner Moat and Outer Moat). This castle is also called Jizogadake Castle or Turtle Castle.
- 透過大洲市民積極請命，大洲城天守閣在消失一百一十多年後重現於大洲土地。因為江戶時期的資料等非常豐富，得以忠實復原四層四樓的天守閣風貌。所有木材徹底堅持使用日本國產木料，於現代復原的全木造天守閣，在日本也極為罕見，文化資產價值極高。內部為挑高結構，展示史料、說明板及重現創建當時築城情景的立體模型等，可據以了解大洲和大洲城的歷史，簡明易懂。大洲城在外觀及內部皆忠實復原昔日結構，當地居民自 1994 年起集結心力募款集資，依古圖、舊照片及天守閣雛型等史料 An enthusiastic campaign by the citizens of Ozu led to the reconstruction of Ozu Castle more than 100 years after the destruction of the main tower. The four-storey, four-layer castle keep was accurately reconstructed thanks to well-kept documents dating back to the Edo period. One of very few Japanese castles reconstructed with wood, all the timber used was gathered from the surrounding country making the castle an important cultural treasure. The interior includes a mezzanine with displays of documents, panels and dioramas showing how the original castle was built along with details on the fascinating history of Ozu and Ozu castle.

- 1. 台所櫓 Daidokoro Yagura Turret
- 它是大洲城現存的 4 座塔樓中最大的建築體，與城樓之間用渡櫓連接，其規模不亞於城樓，有”小城樓”的雄稱 This turret is the largest of the 4 turrets that exist in the Ozu Castle site. It is as large as the castle tower and its magnificent keep can be described as a small castle tower.
- 2. 高欄櫓 Koran Yagura Turret
- 最大特點是窗外回廊上裝飾有蔥花形狀寶珠的高欄，在塔樓上設置此種高欄是少見的，這是僅次於城樓的高規格塔樓 It’s very rare that a turret has this type of handrail and thus this turret is considered to be the most formal building next to the castle tower on the site.
- 3. 苧綿櫓 Owata Yagura Turret
- 塔樓位於二之丸東邊，面向肱川，與河川上下游形成垂直的要塞，承載城東面的防禦責任 The Owatayagura Turret is an independent tower located on the east corner of the Ninomaru Bailey. It stands closest to the Hijikawa river, which flows in an L shape along the corner. The turret played an important role for defense of the east side because the turret made it possible to keep watch on both the upper and lower streams of the river all at once.
- 4. 三の丸南隅櫓 Sannomaru Minami Sumi Yagura Turret
- 位於三之丸的外護城河南隅，是大洲城現存的塔樓中最古老的一座 This turret is located at the south corner of the outer moat of the Sannomaru Bailey. It is the oldest of all turrets that exist on the Ozu Castle site.
