- 京都為象徵日本歷史與文化之都。為於京都誠心接待外賓、加深其對日本之理解與友好，特於 2005 年，建設京都迎賓館。為與歷史景觀與周邊自然環境相互調和，京都迎賓館外觀採用日本傳統住宅之入母屋屋頂及數寄屋造，創造出充滿格調之和風建築。建築本身及內部用品上，運用了許多數寄屋大工木匠、泥瓦匠、庭園建造、截金、西陣錦緞、描金彩繪、塗漆等諸多京都代表性傳統技能之名工巧技 The Kyoto State Guest House was built in 2005 as facilities to welcome distinguished guests from all over the world with the warmest hospitality and allow them to deepen their understanding of, and cultivate friendly relations with, Japan in Kyoto, which symbolizes Japan’s history and culture. In order to make the structure harmonize with its historic landscape and surrounding natural environment, its external appearance draws on half-hipped roofs and the sukiya-style, a simple and austere style used in tea ceremony houses, creating a noble Japanese appearance. Craftsmanship of a wide variety of traditional skills that represent Kyoto is applied to the building and furniture, including sukiya carpentry, plastering, landscape gardening, kirikane (metallic foil cut into strips or other shapes to form decorative motifs), Nishijin brocade and makie (lacquerwork) to name but a few.
