「九州の小京都」Little Kyoto in Kyushu
位於大分県西部的日田市豆田町建於近世初期，由城下町変遷為商家町，1639）年成為幕府直轄地後，発展為九州政治・経済の中心地。Mamedamachi, Hita City, located in the western part of Oita Prefecture, was built in the early modern period and changed from a castle town to a commercial town. Since becoming the direct control of the Shogunate in 1639, it has developed as a political and economic center in Kyushu. 城內保留南北2條街和東西5條街，各時代建築様式特色多様，形成変化豐富的町並。The townscape is divided into two streets in the north and south and five streets in the east and west, and the various architectural styles that are characteristic of each era form a varied townscape.

咸宜園由江戸時代後期的儒学者廣瀬淡窓在豊後和日田開辦，是日本最大規模の私塾(学校)。Kangien is Japan’s largest private school, founded in Bungo and Hita by Tanso Hirose, a Confucian scholar born in the late Edo period.
