- 竹原位於広島県中部，面向瀬戸内海的商家町，江戸時代以入浜式塩田技術製塩、航運及釀酒而繁栄一時。Takehara is a commercial town facing the Seto Inland Sea in central Hiroshima Prefecture. During the Edo period, wealth was accumulated in the salt industry in the Irihama salt fields, and in addition, it prospered in kaisen and sake brewing.
- 大部分建築是江戸時代中期至明治時代建造的本瓦葺・塗屋造の町家。Most of the buildings are main tile-roofed and painted townhouses built from the middle of the Edo period to the Meiji period.

- 該建築採用武家屋敷風格，設有長屋門和玄関，據說是由茶人「不二庵ふじあん」設計。建築後方設有茶室作為祠堂，整體風格統一為数奇屋風の意匠 The building has a samurai residence-style design with a long gate and entrance, and is said to have been designed by the tea master Fujian. It has a tea room as a shrine at the back and is unified in the sukiya-style design.
