- 吳市是以建造戰艦「大和號」的海軍工廠，以及作為軍港而興盛起來的城市。二戰後，吳市將當時累積下來的技術精華，結合最先進的造船技術，建造了無數世界最大規模的油輪等。吳市海事歷史科學館又稱為「大和博物館」，館內可一邊體驗到前人的努力，當時人們的生活與文化等「吳市歷史」，一邊介紹奠定日本現代化基礎的造船、煉鋼等，各種「科學技術」的相關資料 Once Kure flourished as a naval port city with the Naval Arsenal that built the battleship Yamato. After the war, Kure built many of the world’s largest tankers by merging the technologies developed before the war with the new post-war technologies. Kure Maritime Museum, “Yamato Museum” introduces the “History of Kure” and a broad range of “Science and Technologies” including shipbuilding and steelmaking which have served as a foundation for the modernization of Japan, with a perspective on the efforts of our predecessors and lifestyles and cultures at that time.

- 1. 大和廣場 Yamato Hiroba (約 15 分鐘 min)
- 原尺寸 26.3 m 尺的戰艦「大和號」10 分之 1 大小模型 One-tenth scale model of the battleship Yamato measuring 26.3 m in length
- 2. 吳地區歷史 History of Kure 展覽室 (約 40 分鐘 min)
- 1889 年成立吳鎮守府，1903年開設吳海軍工廠，史上最大型戰艦「大和號」的建造計畫和施工技術，以及「大和號」的歷史 After the establishment of the Kure Naval Base in 1889 and the Kure Naval Arsenal in 1903, Kure flourished as a naval port city. In this section, you can see the design blueprints for Yamato, the largest battleship of all time, including details about its technology and history.

- 展示零式艦上戰鬥機六二型、特攻武器「回天」、九三式魚雷等珍貴實物資料 Authentic highly valued items such as a Zero fighter, a Kaiten human torpedo and a Type 93 Torpedo are displayed
- 4. 「造船技術 Shipbuilding Technology」展覽室 (約 30 分鐘 min)
- 透過體驗和親身感受，以簡單易懂的方式，介紹以船舶為主的各種科技原理，除了體驗船隻模擬操縱之外，還有理解波浪特性的實驗水槽 Here we examine some principles of science and technology through hands-on learning with a focus on the ships. You can experience a ship handing simulator and a test tank for ships to learn about the characteristics of waves.
- 5. 航向未來展覽室 Future Prospects (約 15 分鐘 min)
- 介紹今後地球與宇宙發展的相關科技 This display presents the potential of science and technology relating to the earth and the universe.
