  • 調和相反的景觀，演繹出對照之美。兼具「六勝」景觀意境得名，六勝，指的是「宏大」、「幽邃」、「人力」、「蒼古」、「水泉」、「眺望」Harmonizing Conflicting Landscapes to Produce Contrasting Beauties
  • 「宏大」與「幽邃」意思完全相反，寬敞基本上就是要明亮開放；而幽邃的境界，則是要帶有寂靜清幽與深邃 The garden combines these two conflicting characteristics naturally. It is laid out on a wide scale, with its many open areas offering tranquil, unbroken vistas of bright light and deep space, denying the very possibility of shadows and privacy.
  • 「人力」與「蒼古」也存在著矛盾關係，有了人工雕琢，就會喪失自然之美。而兼六園是個的人工庭園，卻仍然巨樹參天，青苔遍地 The very idea of a formally sculpted garden is such that its form should seemingly break the ancient patterns of nature as a matter of course. Kenroku-en is nothing if not artificial in the extreme, and yet, somehow, all the artifice effaces, the carefully placed weathered rocks and artfully trained aged trees have grown together naturally.
  • 「水泉」，指的是池溏或瀑布等水景。遠方可見內灘砂丘與能登半島，眼前則有卯辰山，再過去還可眺望白山、醫王山，「水泉」與「眺望」共存 The water-courses include ponds and fountains. To find water you must seek it in the low lands, the hollows and furrows of the earth. To find broad views you must seek it in the high lands, under the wide roof of the sky.
  • 林泉迴遊式庭園，隨處可見的創意，醞釀出春、夏、秋、冬四季不同的風情 As a strolling-style landscape garden, it incorporates fancy designs in every corner, achieving peerless scenery in each season.
  • 兼六園是「迴遊式」庭園，但也是建造當時各種造園手法的集大成。回遊式庭園不是在寺廟或宮殿書院欣賞的坐觀式庭園，而是將土地面積作最充分的利用，在庭園中挖鑿大池塘，堆砌假山，並在適合的地點穿插建造亭台與茶室，來訪者必須穿梭其間，才得以瀏覽全貌的庭園。因為庭園中有數塘池水，還有穿梭其間的曲水，用挖鑿池塘的泥土堆砌而成的假山，種植著多彩多姿的花草樹木，因此也稱為「築山 (假山)、林泉、迴遊式庭園」By introducing the element of the “strolling-style” garden, Kenroku-en is laid out with a variety of gardening techniques from different periods. Unlike the sit-and-view style garden where you enjoy the landscape only from a certain spot of a temple or a palace, the strolling-style garden has large ponds, hills, cottages and tea houses arranged on a spacious ground, allowing you to take a walk through them. Because of the geographic features such as winding streams connecting several ponds and artificially built hills with a variety of trees, this style is also referred to a “strolling-style landscape garden incorporating ponds and hills”.

時雨亭 Siguretei

  • 加賀藩五代藩主前田綱紀於 1676 年將作事所遷回城內，原址上修建蓮池御亭，並在四周造園；這就是兼六園的起源 In 1676, Maeda Tsunanori, the 5th lord of the Kaga Domain, moved the construction office inside the castle in order to build on the site a villa called Renchi-ochin and a surrounding garden. This was the beginning of Kenrokuen.
