- 田島彌平對養蠶方式進行改良研究，發展出『清涼育』養蠶法，在蠶的成長過程中重視通風的方法，建於 1863 年的 2 層田島彌平舊宅，兼具 1F 住家及 2F 蠶室功能，特點是屋頂設有換氣窗的櫓，導入自然通風系統，2012 年國家史蹟指定，2014 年登錄為世界遺產「富岡製絲廠和絲綢產業遺產群」構成資產 This farmhouse used for sericulture was built in 1863 by Yahei Tajima who perfected the modern sericultural technique called Seiryo-iku featuring ventilation. The ventilation system developed by Tajima Yahei uses two-story buildings with smaller raised roofs (yagura) on top of the main roof. The higher roof and windows below the yagura allowed for the silkworm eggs to be ventilated naturally. In recognition of its contribution towards the advancement of the silk industry, the facility was designated as a national historic site in 2012 and registered as the world heritage「Tomioka Silk Mill and Related Sites」in 2014.
