It is a technique of drawing pictures, patterns and characters with lacquer (urushi), and then spreading gold dust (kinpun) and silver dust (gingen) before the lacquer dries and fixing it. In the Momoyama period, lacquer works were applied to not only the equipment but also the structures. Nene’s sleeping Kodai-ji temple (Otamaya) The stairs and sushi that have been decorated with magnificent lacquer work from the Momoyama period are still left.
