- 犬山城於 16 世紀築城，在過往數萬座城池之中，犬山城是至今仍保留當時面貌的 12 座城池之一。據信其天守有著日本最古老的建築式樣，亦被列為國寶 The Inuyama Castle, built in the 16th century, was among the tens of thousands of castles present at the time. However, currently only 12 remain. Our castle, one of the 12, has been designated as a National Treasure.

- 1. 外郭 Exterior Ramparts (Sogamae)
- 犬山城及南側一整片的城前市鎮 (隨城池發展出的市鎮)，整體設有以護城河及土壘圈圍防禦的「外郭」結構。出入口處配置曲柄狀道路，以求易守難攻 Inuyama Castle and its castle town were protected by structures called sogamae – moats and earthwork embankments that surround the area. The road was curved at the entrance to make intrusions difficult and easy to defend against.
- 2. 城池範圍 The Citadel (Nawabari)
- 城池為求防禦，會具備數處平坦地面 (「丸」，即城區)、護城河、土牆、在城山斜面削鑿出的斷崖、石牆等土木設施、門與圍牆、櫓，以及稱為「天守」的建築物 The surroundings of the castle were fortified by multiple flat areas, Kuruwa (walls), Maru (enclosures), Hori (moats), Dorui or Dote (earthen walls), Kirigishi (cliffs) made by shaving off the side of the Shiroyama, structures such as stone walls (Fushin), gates and fences, Yagura (watch towers), and donjons.
- 在犬山城的北側有斷崖和木曾川提供庇護；東側有峭壁及護城河；西側有峭壁，並配置乾溝與土壘；是一座南北狹長狀的城池。主城區「本丸」位於山頂處；在向南的階梯地形上，則配置著名為「杉之丸」、「樅之丸」、「桐之丸」、「松之丸」的城區。「大手道」穿過城池中央，自山麓處一路連向本丸，並可通往各個城區。大手道上有 5 道門，皆設計成無法直線走向下一道門的結構，每道門的外側都圍有石牆和土壘。此種人稱「外枡形」的出入口一個接著一個，據說具有堅強的防禦能力 This configuration is called Nawabari. Inuyama Castle, with its back (north side) protected by a cliff and Kiso River, is built longwise from north to south. To its east were Kirigishi and Mizubori, and to its west were Kirigishi, karabori, and dorui. The Honmaru is at the top of the hill, and Kuruwa named Sugi-no-maru, Momi-no-maru, Kiri-no-maru, and Matsu-no-maru are situated to its south in consecutive tiers. The Otemichi runs through the middle of the castle territory from the base of the mountain to the Honmaru, and is made to connect to each Kuruwa from the Otemichi. The Otemichi has five gates, and are situated in a way which makes going straight impossible. The exterior of each gate was surrounded by stone walls and dorui. This series of gates (Koguchi) is called Sotomasu-gata, and is said to provide strong protection.

- 以犬山城為中心，河濱地帶將有約 400 株櫻花樹燦爛盛放 Approximately 400 cherry trees line the river with Inuyama Castle at its center.

- 2. 城見步道 Walk around the castle (Shiromi-hodo)
- 這是位於鄉瀨川畔的在地民眾散步路線，自犬山站一帶連接至木曾川一帶，沿途有著成排的櫻花樹 This walk is popular among locals and follows Gose River. You can walk under cherry trees from Inuyama Station to where Kiso River lies.
- 3. 木曾川遊憩步道 Walk around Kiso river (Kisogawa-yuhodo)
- 這條遊憩步道位於木曾川畔，河岸及堤防上各有一條遊憩步道，櫻花季時亦會有賞花人力車載客賞景 For this walk along the Kiso River there are two paths available: one right along the river and another on the embankment. Cherry blossom-viewing rickshaws are available during the cherry blossom season.

- 犬山駅東西聯絡橋西口 – 下右側階梯，沿著圓環直線前進，在「本町」十字路口處右轉，往前直走即會抵達犬山城的山麓 Walk down the stairs to your right and proceed along with the roundabout. Walk straight and you will see the Inuyama Castle Town once you turn right at the Honmachi Intersection. You will arrive at the base of the Shiroyama after walking through the castle town.
