- 住吉大社與下關、博多兩地的住吉神社並稱為日本「三大住吉神社」，也是日本約 2300 座住吉神社の総本社 Together with the Sumiyoshi Shrines in Shimonoseki and Hakata, it is known as one of the “Three Major Sumiyoshi Shrines” in Japan. It is the main shrine of about 2,300 Sumiyoshi shrines in Japan.
- 每年 1 月「初詣」(新年初次參拜) 的參拜者有 200 多萬人 Two million people come to Sumiyoshi Taisha each January for hatsumōde, the traditional first shrine visit of the year. 仲夏時節，「住吉祭」是大阪最盛大的節日之一 The midsummer Sumiyoshi Matsuri is one of Osaka’s biggest festivals.
- 住吉大社的主要建築以風格簡潔而聞名，這種建築風格被稱為「住吉造」，是日本神社建造的典範 The main buildings at Sumiyoshi Taisha are distinguished by their simplicity. The style is called sumiyoshi-zukuri and became a model for shrine builders elsewhere in Japan.
