宇治川の鵜飼 (鸕鶿捕魚) Uji River Cormorant Fishing

- 鵜匠 (飼養鸕鶿並指揮其捕魚的人) 操縱6隻鸕鶿，使用「追繩」(拴住鸕鶿的繩子)與鸕鶿彼此相連，船上都點著篝火，鵜匠們敲擊著船緣，徹夜捕捉著香魚。On the Uji River, a single usho handles six cormorants connecting to them via a cord when fishing. The river was filled with cormorant fishing boats, each with their own torchlight, with the usho banging on the sides of the boat, where they would continue catching sweetfish throughout the night.

- 是指不使用「追繩」，而是將鸕鶿放出到河中，鸕鶿可以自由地在水裡捕魚，鵜匠再將鸕鶿呼喚到身邊。Untethered cormorant fishing is a method where the birds are released into the river without using a cord, where they are free to catch fish in the water as they like until they are called back by the usho.
