為近代日本經濟奠定基礎的「近江商人」的故鄉，白壁倉庫、宅邸與搭配豐富的自然，尤其是金堂地区，以寺院為中心，周囲有民家和田野的農村集落。Home to the Omi merchants who laid the foundation for the modern Japanese economy, the white-walled storehouses and mansions are in harmony with the rich nature. In particular, the Kondo district has a rural village with temples centered on the encampment, private houses and fields spread out around it.

主屋建於明治前期，結構堅実，同時融入了近代元素 The main house was built in the early Meiji period, and while it is solidly constructed, it also displays modern developments.
這棟住宅在保留近江商人本宅形式的同時，也體現了昭和前期增築的西式房間和客廳 (新座敷)，可視為一座高品質的近代和風住宅 While inheriting the style of the main residence of an Omi merchant that became standardized in the late early modern period, the house can be evaluated as a high-quality modern Japanese-style residence with Western-style rooms and new parlors added in the early Showa period.
