This old road, which continues from Kyoto, is known as the Kisoji road past the local post station Magome-juku, and is a steep road that retains the scenery of the Edo period. Entering a section of about 80 km, it extends further and continues to Tokyo.

  • 江戶時代人來人往的中山道第 43 驛站。沿著石頭鋪成的斜坡的驛站小鎮,道路兩旁有新鮮出爐的仙貝 (米餅)、燒餅 (烤年糕)、五平餅 (年糕)、紀念品商店和老式咖啡館。您可以在懷舊的驛站小鎮度過悠閒的時光,至今仍保留著江戶時代遺蹟的石板坡道,以島崎藤村的故鄉而聞名的馬籠宿。Magome-juku is the 43rd post town on Nakasendo, where many people came and went as the road for sankinkotai travel of feudal lords during the Edo period. It is a post town with cobblestone-lined sloping street, and fresh baked rice crackers, oyaki, goheimochi and souvenir shops, and traditional cafes are lined up on both sides of the road, so you can enjoy eating and walking. You can spend a relaxing time in a nostalgic post town where you can feel the breeze while escaping from everyday life. The road on the cobblestone slope still retains remnants from the Edo period, and Magome-juku, famous for being connected with Toson Shimazaki, is the birthplace of Toson Shimazaki.
