- 所謂「鸕鶿捕魚 (鵜飼)」是一種捕抓棲息在清流的香魚的古老捕魚法，以船上篝火下的手繩，「鵜匠 (訓練鸕鶿的專業職人)」和鸕鶿同心合力一起捕魚。夏天的風景詩「錦帶橋的鸕鶿捕魚」是在日本三大名橋之一的「錦帶橋」旁的清流錦川舉行，長達約 380 年的歷史。現在，為了文化的保存和觀光，每年在 6 月 1 日到 9 月 10 日期間舉辦，人們搭著遊艇，能邊品嚐香魚鹽燒或包括岩國壽司在內的岩國名產，邊欣賞鸕鶿捕魚秀。夏天的夜空下，在錦帶橋旁，鸕鶿舟的篝火下，鵜匠們巧妙地操控著手繩，驅使鸕鶿的夢幻景象 Cormorant fishing is an ancient method of fishing ayu (sweetfish), which live in clear river waters. Its history is so long that it is mentioned in the Kojiki, Japan’s oldest historical document. Fishing is carried out on board a boat, under the light of a bonfire, and the cormorant fisherman and the cormorants act in unison, using hand ropes. “Cormorant Fishing of Kintaikyo Bridge”, the classic summer scene in Iwakuni, is carried out in the clear waters of the Nishiki River, against the backdrop of Kintaikyo Bridge, one of Japan’s three most famous bridges. Although it was temporarily paused during its long 380-year history, the tradition was revived in 1952, and has been carried out ever since. In the present day, Cormorant Fishing is conducted every year from June 1 to September 10, for the purposes of cultural preservation and tourism. You can board a pleasureboat and enjoy the sight of Cormorant Fishing while sampling local Iwakuni delicacies such as Iwakuni Sushi and salted grilled sweetfish. The mystical scene of the cormorant fishermen skillfully handling the ropes to manage their cormorants, lit up by the bonfire on each cormorant boat under the summer night sky, with Kintaikyo Bridge in the backdrop, is like slipping back into a bygone era. The event can be enjoyed by all, from children to adults.
